Explosion in Libya: 3 UN Employees Killed

An explosion in the city of Benghazi, Libya, has resulted in the death of three United Nations staff members, with another ten people injured. This information was reported by Reuters. Following the incident, France has called for an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council.

It is noted that the explosion was caused by an improvised explosive device attached to a vehicle. At least one burned vehicle belonging to the UN was visible at the scene.

UN Secretary-General António Guterres condemned the car bombing. It has been reported that the organization will not evacuate its mission from Libya following the incident.

The Secretary-General urged all parties to maintain a humanitarian ceasefire during the Eid al-Adha holiday and return to the negotiating table to achieve the peaceful future that the Libyan people deserve, as stated by the Secretary-General's spokesperson, Stéphane Dujarric.
