Five Rosatom Employees Killed During Liquid Rocket System Test in Arkhangelsk
Five employees of Rosatom died during a liquid rocket propulsion system test at a military training ground in the Arkhangelsk region, reported the communications department of the state corporation, as cited by Interfax.
Rosatom added that three other individuals sustained injuries and burns of varying degrees and are currently receiving treatment at a specialized medical facility.
The tragedy occurred during the engineering and technical accompaniment phase related to the isotopic sources for the liquid propulsion system. At the time of the fire, Rosatom employees were inspecting isotopic power sources developed for the liquid rocket system, the statement said.
It is important to note that the incident took place on August 8. The Russian Defense Ministry reported that an explosion involving the rocket propulsion system occurred at the military training ground in the Arkhangelsk region. At that time, two fatalities and six injuries had been confirmed, including representatives from the Defense Ministry and the enterprise that developed the system.
