Video: Atambayev Arrested - Former Kyrgyz President's Arrest Captured

Former Kyrgyz President Almazbek Atambayev has been detained until August 26. This was reported by his lawyer Sergey Slesarev.

Atambayev surrendered to law enforcement on August 8 during a raid on his residence. He had been facing arrest since August 7, with supporters resisting the authorities. A total of 79 people were injured during the unrest, and one law enforcement officer has died while another is in a coma.

The Prosecutor General's Office has initiated criminal cases against Atambayev's supporters for hooliganism, mass disturbances, and hostage-taking.

Footage has emerged online showing former President Almazbek Atambayev negotiating with officials at his home, surrounded by armed supporters. Cameras also captured the moment law enforcement approached Atambayev to take him into custody.

The video was filmed by Atambayev's assistant, Kunduz Joldubayeva, who is also the deputy chairperson of the Kyrgyz Social-Democratic Party.
