Film-like Theft in Yerevan: Fireproof Safe and Owner's Car Stolen, and This is Just the Beginning
On August 7, an extraordinary incident occurred in Yerevan. According to Shamshyan.com, around 14:30, the Shengavit Police Department received a call reporting that between August 5 at 10:30 and August 7 at 10:30, an unknown person or persons had illegally entered the apartment of 43-year-old Andrei S. on Chekhov Street using technical means. They seized a fireproof safe and then took the keys to a Toyota vehicle owned by Andrei S. The thief or thieves then fled with the Toyota from the parking lot of the said building.
The operational group of the Shengavit Police Department, led by the head of the Criminal Investigation Department, Nersisyan, arrived at the scene. A group from the Investigative Committee of Armenia's Yerevan Investigative Division for Shengavit, led by Senior Investigator Rafaelian, also arrived. Police and investigators found that the fireproof safe contained a firearm, gold jewelry, and money.
While Shengavit police and investigators were inspecting the crime scene, officers from the Kotayk Police Department, under the leadership of Chief Artak Ghazaryan, discovered the stolen vehicle under the bridge in district A of Arinj village in Kotayk Province, completely burned.
