Dissatisfaction Deepens in Alaverdi: The Issue of Copper Smelter Recommissioning Remains Unresolved

The newspaper "Fact" reports that problems in the city of Alaverdi and the surrounding region continue to accumulate without resolution. Specifically, the issue of recommissioning the copper smelter remains unsolved, leaving over 600 Alaverdi workers unemployed at present.

In an interview with a reporter from "Fact", they voiced their discontent regarding both the lack of employment and the indifferent attitude of the authorities, as there have been almost no noticeable steps taken to clarify the situation.

They also expressed dissatisfaction with their representatives, who made extravagant promises in the past but have now seemingly forgotten them. Moreover, locals indicated that the entire city is in an extremely dire state, with 90 percent of the population burdened by debts, and most borrowers classified as having credit histories that place them on "black" lists.

One interviewee, representing the city's intelligentsia, mentioned that the residents are preparing to once again address the government with a letter concerning the recommissioning of the factory. He also added that there are discussions regarding the organization of even larger protests, possibly shutting down roads and railways once more.

The dire condition of the city is aggravated by the disgraceful state of its roads.
