Dissatisfaction Deepens in Alaverdi

Dissatisfaction Deepens in Alaverdi

The newspaper "Pats" reports that issues in the city of Alaverdi and the surrounding region continue to accumulate without resolution. Specifically, the question of the resumption of operations at the copper smelting plant remains unresolved, leaving more than 600 Alaverdi residents currently unemployed.

In an interview with a reporter from "Pats," they once again expressed their dissatisfaction regarding both the lack of job opportunities and the indifferent attitude of the authorities, as virtually no tangible steps are being taken to clarify the situation.

They also voiced complaints about their local representatives, who had previously made lavish promises but seem to have forgotten about them now. Notably, residents indicated that the entire city is presently in a dire situation, with 90 percent of the population burdened by debts. Many borrowers have classified credit histories, placing them on 'black' lists.

One of the interviewees, representing the city's intellectual community, mentioned that the residents plan to once again address the government in writing regarding the resumption of the plant's operations. He also added that discussions are ongoing about organizing even larger protests, potentially blocking roads and railways once more. The seriousness of the situation is further exacerbated by the deplorable condition of the city's roads.
