Arsen Torosyan Comments on Charging for a 4-Year-Old's Sonography
The Minister of Health, Arsen Torosyan, has commented on the incident where a hospital requested payment for a sonography for a 4-year-old child. This incident has been widely discussed on social media.
“I want to emphasize that free medical assistance for children under 18 applies to inpatient care and difficult-to-access, expensive examinations. In this case, sonographic examinations for children under 7 and other specialized consultations and laboratory-instrumental tests can be conducted in specialized clinics on an outpatient basis with a referral from the child’s polyclinic. It should be noted that in this case, there was no referral and the procedure was not followed. I urge everyone to adhere to the existing procedures and not to unjustly blame healthcare institutions,” Torosyan stated on his Facebook page.
