Why a Citizen Inflicted Self-Harm with a Razor at the Bagratashen Customs Post: Clarification from the State Revenue Committee
The State Revenue Committee (SRC) has issued a clarification regarding the incident that occurred the day before at the Bagratashen customs checkpoint, where a citizen inflicted self-harm.
The SRC's statement notes: “In connection with the incident that took place on July 29 at the Bagratashen customs checkpoint of the SRC's Eastern Customs Administration, it is important to inform that in response to the legal requirement of customs officials to declare approximately 1 ton of fruit imported into Armenia, the citizen attempted to avoid processing part of the load by resorting to self-harm.”
“Customs officials transported the citizen to a hospital in Noyemberyan, where, after receiving necessary medical assistance, the citizen returned to the customs checkpoint, completed the customs clearance process, received his cargo, and left.”
It was previously reported that an emergency incident occurred on the evening of July 29 in the Tavush region, where a citizen was transported from the Bagratashen customs point to the Noyemberyan medical center. An operational group from the Noyemberyan police department was dispatched to the hospital, which clarified that the individual admitted was 28-year-old Gagik S. from Alaverdi. It was found that he inflicted self-harm with a razor due to issues with customs processing, specifically on his limbs and neck.
