Court Releases Army Officer's Son Who Stabbed Two Minors

Today, the investigator of the Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia's Yerevan City Investigative Department for Erebuni and Nubarashen administrative regions, Senior Investigator Sedoyan, submitted a request to the Yerevan City Court of General Jurisdiction, asking the court to impose a 2-month detention on 19-year-old Levon Kerebyan, a resident of Yerevan.

Shortly thereafter, Judge Artush Gabrielyan, after holding a closed court session and returning from the consultation room, rejected the investigator's request and released Kerebyan on a bail of 1 million drams.

Photojournalists report that Kerebyan had previously been convicted of stabbing in 2017 and was released under an amnesty act in 2018. Now he is once again suspected of stabbing two minor boys in Yerevan on July 25, after which he fled the scene, leaving the children helpless.

The lives of the stabbed children were saved thanks to the doctors at the “Erebuni” medical center.

According to photojournalist sources, the stabber's father serves in the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Armenia as a high-ranking officer with the rank of lieutenant colonel.
