A Man's Friend Charged in the Murder of a 32-Year-Old in Ajapnyak

The Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia has publicly charged a man born in 1978, who was previously wanted, in connection with the murder of a 32-year-old man in the Ajapnyak and Davtashen administrative districts. The information was released by the Committee's Department of Information and Public Relations.

As reported earlier, on May 1, 2019, at 03:35, a call was received at the Mashtots Police Division from the Armenia Medical Center stating that a man born in 1986 had been transported to their facility with a penetrating stab wound to the left side of his chest, causing heart damage and severe bleeding. He died on the same day.

A criminal case was initiated under Part 1 of Article 34-104 of the RA Criminal Code at the Investigative Division of the Ajapnyak and Davtashen administrative districts.

Following extensive investigative actions and urgent operational-search measures carried out with the relevant police department, several details regarding the incident were clarified, including the motive and the identity of the alleged perpetrator, who is a friend of the victim and a resident of Yerevan, born in 1978. He was declared wanted.

He later appeared before the authorities and was charged under Part 1 of Article 104 of the RA Criminal Code. The investigator has submitted a request to the court to confirm the detention as a preventive measure against the accused, which was granted. The preliminary investigation is ongoing, with measures being taken to ensure an objective, complete, and comprehensive examination of the circumstances of the case.
