A Soldier Killed in Artsakh Opened Fire at the Senior Position a Day Before Incident: Details
On July 23, 2019, around 22:55, at the combat position of military unit N, conscript soldier, private Volodya Hamlet Galoyan fired shots from his assigned AK-74 assault rifle at the senior position from the adjacent area of the combat position, with the unlawful intent to kill another person. However, Galoyan’s criminal act was not completed due to circumstances beyond his control, as reported by the Investigative Committee.
Immediately after the shooting, Galoyan left the position area with his assigned AK-74. Then, on July 24, 2019, around 04:20, his body was found approximately 50 meters away from the observation post of the combat position, with a gunshot wound to the lower jaw, and his rifle lying next to him.
A criminal case has been initiated under Article 34-104, part 1, and Article 110, part 1 of the RA Criminal Code at the second garrison investigative department. An investigation is underway.
Necessary investigative and procedural actions are being taken to ensure a comprehensive, complete, and objective examination of the incident.
