Suspect Arrested in Murder Case of Russian Special Forces Soldier in Armenia

A participant in the murder of Russian special forces soldier Nikita Belyankin has been arrested. This was stated by Aravik Khachaturyan, head of the public relations department of the Prosecutor General's Office of Armenia, in an interview with a correspondent from Sputnik Armenia.

The suspect was discovered by Armenian law enforcement agencies.

Nikita Belyankin, a former fighter of a Russian special forces unit and participant in military operations in Syria, was killed on June 1 during a mass brawl in the village of Krasnogorsk, Moscow Region. He attempted to protect a local resident who was being beaten in the street.

“We arrested a participant in the murder case 40 days ago. We contacted our Russian counterparts, informed them of the arrest, and requested that the case be transferred to the Armenian side,” said Khachaturyan.

The name of the detained individual has not yet been published.

It is worth noting that the criminal case concerning the murder of former special forces soldier Nikita Belyankin involves Russian citizens Sergey Khojanyan, Rudik Manukyan, Artur Hakobyan, Davit Yeghiazaryan, Suren Markosyan, and Armenian citizens Narek Stepanyan, Hamlet Hayrapetyan, and Sahak Sahakyan, who are accused of hooliganism. They do not admit guilt.
