"I Do Not Deny": Tonoyan Did Not Refute His Personal Ties with the Head of the Military Food Organization

The pilot phase for organizing food supply to military units has been ongoing for 3 years, during which we aim to ensure the same standards of food organization across all military branches. This was stated by Defense Minister David Tonoyan during a press conference with journalists today, July 22, adding that they will work to achieve this sooner than the planned 3 years.

According to the Minister, this is currently being implemented in 4 military units, with preparatory works underway in a 5th unit, which is quite distant and is also engaged in combat duty. "The process will be gradual; we cannot do it all at once," he noted.

When asked about the accuracy of claims that the head of the organization responsible for food supply in military units is a close associate of his, Davit Tonoyan did not deny it. "Six organizations have been recognized as winners that will organize this food supply under equal conditions. There are also protesting organizations that personally connect the winning organizations to me. I do not deny that the head of this organization is doing it at my request now, because I have no other reliable option. You can imagine that this pertains to the food of servicemen, and if he does not succeed, I will not succeed either. Where is the problem? There are issues of food composition and administration. They are engaged in administration as well as food organization, involving professionals who currently do not exist in Armenia. Also, there are invited specialists. We have not organized such food supply for servicemen before; this is now being done, " he stated.

David Tonoyan mentioned that at this moment, only this one organization is functioning. "When the other 5 organizations start their operations, the number of these military units will increase very quickly. You will see that within a month, 3 military units will be operating, within 2 months, 4 military units, and we will proceed step by step in this manner." In response to a question about whether it is dangerous to transmit military data to these organizations, the minister gave a negative response. "Because no one has the complete picture. They have special permissions from the National Security Service (NSS), and the same information could be transmitted by other people with similar success."
