VIDEO: Fire at One of Japan's Anime Studios Leaves Casualties
A fire in an anime studio in Kyoto, Japan has resulted in 12 fatalities and 40 injuries. According to NHK, the incident occurred around 10:30 AM when a man entered the Kyoto Animation Co. building, doused it with an unidentified liquid, and ignited it.
Witnesses reported hearing an explosion within the building, which was followed by the outbreak of fire. Six hours later, the fire was finally brought under control, but rescue operations are still ongoing.
Kyoto Animation was founded in 1981.
