Eyewitness Account: Police Raid in Ijevan Seen as Brutal by Family Members

Familial relatives of those arrested following events in Ijevan gathered today to express their grievances regarding police actions. One woman, showing her bruised hands, stated that the injuries were a result of a scuffle with police, according to Tert.am.

She recounted that at approximately 3:30 AM, police broke into their home and took away her two sons and husband. “They came in by breaking the gate and smashing the door, pushed into my house at 3:30 in the morning, after which they caught my son. They assaulted him with 10 people, in his underwear, which they absolutely had no right to do, they threw him to the ground… they said to lay him down on the asphalt, but didn’t specify if it was acceptable to lay innocent people on the asphalt in their house, in front of his wife, mother, and child,” the woman said.

She noted that her husband was taken next, followed by her other son. “Whoever they saw among the men in the house, they took. They pushed me down too; I said, ‘Take me as well, I am a protester,’ but they didn’t take me. They pushed me down and took the others away in their underwear, barefoot, without any clothes,” she stated.

The woman also added that around 4:00 AM, she went to the police station to file a report about the assault but no one opened the door, an incident they recorded on video. The relative of the arrested individual mentioned that they have already filed a report concerning the home invasion.
