Video: Large Quantity of Illegal Drug Import and Sale Discovered by NSS
The National Security Service of the Republic of Armenia has revealed a case of illegal import and sale of a large quantity of pharmaceuticals by an organized group, conducted without the necessary permits, within the framework of its operational-investigative measures and investigative actions aimed at combating crime.
According to preliminary data, a group of citizens of Armenia, regularly traveling to Russia, Ukraine, Georgia, Turkey, and various European countries, obtained large quantities of drugs, both registered and unregistered within Armenia, without the necessary import certification. They then transported these drugs without customs oversight and sold pharmaceuticals valued at approximately 70 million AMD between February and April 2019, causing significant harm to the state amounting to over 35 million AMD.
During simultaneous searches at various addresses, approximately 3,000 boxes of drugs with around 320 different names were seized, estimated to be worth nearly $100,000, along with cash related to their circulation, including about €90,000, 3.5 million AMD, and $1,300, as well as notebooks and flash drives containing sales records, commonly referred to as 'black accounting.'
A criminal case has been initiated in the investigative department of the NSS regarding the apparent crime under relevant articles of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia. An investigation is underway.
