Tense Situation Near the First Post of Amulsar
Journalist Shahane Khachatryan writes on her Facebook page: “There is a tense situation near the first post of Amulsar. Police are attempting to detain locals and defenders of Amulsar without justification. Earlier, the defenders received information that some individuals were trying to enter the Amulsar area today. They gathered early this morning to prevent this.
About half an hour ago, around 11:20 AM, vehicles approached the first post, which eyewitnesses reported contained some experts and representatives of the investigation. According to an eyewitness, the police allowed these vehicles to pass near the first post and proceed towards the city of Jermuk and the road leading to the second post. However, when locals and defenders of Amulsar attempted to follow them to understand where they were going and whether they were trying to enter the area leading to Amulsar, the police blocked their path with a convoy. After that, without justification, they attempted to arrest the people.
The police and the investigation team are negotiating with the locals. The investigative committee is demanding the opening of the road leading to the mine. Yesterday, locals issued a statement demanding that the stance of the community and violations of rights be recorded in the framework of the forensic work. Currently, locals are keeping the road leading from Gndevaz to Amulsar blocked.
