Driver of Toyota Arrested in Connection with Tragic Car Accident
In connection with the tragic car accident that occurred on the Ararat-Yeraskhavan road, the driver of a Toyota has been arrested today. "Solomon Hakobyan has been arrested," Naida Harutyunyan, head of the Department of Information and Public Relations of the Investigative Committee of Armenia, told Aysor.am.
Hakobyan is suspected under the third part of Article 242 of the Criminal Code of Armenia, which pertains to violations of traffic or vehicle operation rules that have negligently caused the death of two or more individuals.
Recall that on July 6, 2019, around 15:00, vehicles including a "GAZEL," "Toyota Hilux," and "VAZ 21063" collided on the 54th kilometer of the Yerevan-Meghri highway near the bridge in Ararat city. As a result, a fire broke out in the GAZEL vehicle, which then spread to the Toyota Hilux and VAZ 21063 vehicles. The driver of the GAZEL and five passengers died at the scene, while 11 others, including passengers of the GAZEL and the driver and passengers of the Toyota Hilux, were transported to medical centers with various injuries.
