Why Soldiers Have Not Received Raised Salaries: The Protest and the Ministry's Response

Aurora News has been contacted by employees of the military system, reporting that they have not received their full salary for June.

“It’s just another false information circulating from the government, the Ministry of Defense, and the media that soldiers' salaries are increasing. Meanwhile, the actual salary remains the same, and various allowances are being added. This is, as we all know, to ensure that pensions are not raised later. That is the reality,” wrote the citizens who reached out to us.

By contacting them, we inquired whether they had asked the unit about the issue, and they indicated: “We have raised the issue, and they said that you will receive the amount you missed for June in July; then they said that some units have received it, it is related to financial transfers that we have not received, and so on. The situation is such that no one is telling us anything specific and clear.”

We also learned that Ministry of Defense employees, for example, receive their salaries for June at the end of the same month.

It should be noted that on May 30, during an executive meeting, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced that military salaries would be raised from June 1. “Salaries are increasing from June 1, meaning that they will receive the raised salary in July,” the Prime Minister noted.

Aurora News contacted the spokesperson for the Ministry of Defense, Artsrun Hovhannisyan, to understand the issue better. Mr. Hovhannisyan's response can be viewed in the video.
