I Am By Your Side: Mariam Pashinyan

The eldest daughter of the Prime Minister of Armenia, Mariam Pashinyan, wrote on her Facebook page: "One should never pass indifferently by violence. Sexual violence is a taboo subject in our society, and I am grateful to all the courageous women who raise their voices and use their public positions to start a dialogue about this issue and raise awareness among many parents.

Tradition is very important, values are very important, but they should not ruin the lives of the children and teenagers who have become victims of sexual violence. I urge dear parents, never let your children live with thoughts of shame and fear. This, in large part, depends on you. The dreams of many teenagers and young people are shattered due to finding themselves in such dire situations, and I believe that we all need to do everything possible to help our particularly vulnerable young people in these situations.

To all the young people who have become victims of violence, I want to say: I am by your side, and I understand the brutal mark it leaves on your entire life. But I also know how strong you can be. Human strength knows no bounds, and the power of the mind knows no limits. Any form of violence deserves to be punished strictly."
