Ararat Mirzoyan Discusses with MPs Who Missed Important Session: Why Was Ashtoyan Left Alone?
The newspaper "Zhhoghovurd" reports: "A conference titled 'Development of Parliamentarism' has taken place in Moscow, attended by delegations from 130 countries, including several dozen speakers from the National Assembly of Armenia. Moreover, Armenia had a broader participation, as the deputy head of the Republican Party, Armen Ashtoyan, also attended as a representative of a separate political force.
It is noteworthy that during one of the most significant discussions for Armenia, no member of the National Assembly delegation was present in the hall, including parliamentary opposition members, and thus, they did not respond to the speeches. Specifically, this refers to the discussion where one of the heads of the Azerbaijani parliamentary commission made aggressive statements targeting Armenia and Artsakh.
Deputy head Ashtoyan was left to respond solo to the Azerbaijani assault. It should be noted that the delegation included National Assembly Speaker Ararat Mirzoyan, government representatives Narek Mkrtchyan, Alexey Sandikov, Anush Beghloyan, Vahe Enfjian, Mikael Melkumyan from the Prosperous Armenia Party, and Edmon Marukyan from the Bright Armenia Party.
According to "Zhhoghovurd", during the Moscow conference, only a few opposition MPs were active, participating in other sessions, but they were not present during the Azerbaijani attack discussions. The delegation members had more separate and private meetings, and even representatives of the Russian side expressed surprise over the passivity of Armenian MPs and the fact that they missed such significant sessions.
It is added that Ararat Mirzoyan discussed the matter of missing the session with the members of the delegation. In an interview with "Zhhoghovurd", MP Narek Mkrtchyan noted: 'At the time when targeted remarks were made, we, including opposition MPs, were already giving speeches in other sessions or were in pre-scheduled meetings. We had a brief conversation about this topic with Mirzoyan.' For more details, see the newspaper's issue today."
