Appeals Court Rejects Objection to Arrest of Gegham Petrosyan in March 1 Case
The Appeals Court of Armenia has rejected the objection against the arrest of Gegham Petrosyan, who is suspected of intentionally taking the life of Zakhar Hovhannisyan, in relation to the March 1 criminal case.
In an interview with Armenpress, Petrosyan's lawyer, Vahaghrshak Gevorgyan, stated that they plan to appeal the rejection decision again.
Earlier, the Special Investigation Service of Armenia reported that on June 4, a suspect was arrested under Article 104, Part 1 of the Armenian Criminal Code, related to the events that took place in Yerevan from March 1 to 2, 2008. Gegham Petrosyan, who was the deputy commander of the police troops at that time and also held the position of chief of staff, was arrested on suspicion of using firearms to intentionally take the life of Zakhar Hovhannisyan.
A suspect or defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in accordance with the rules established by the Criminal Procedure Code of Armenia through a legally binding verdict.
