The CP Lost Due to Romanos Petrosyan, Says Sasun Mikayelyan
National Assembly member of the "My Step" faction, Sasun Mikayelyan, expressed skepticism about the working style of Kotayk Governor Romanos Petrosyan. He stated, "He wants to become a prominent figure there, in Abovyan and in that region. He presented a candidate to the administration, and I voted against it. When it was time for him to be officially nominated by the CP for the second time, I again voted against it. After that, I did not interfere in the Abovyan elections, keeping the order and discipline of the CP."
According to him, the CP lost the Abovyan mayoral elections specifically because of Kotayk Governor Romanos Petrosyan, who has personified these elections and inflated the importance of his role in them. "Imagine if the Prime Minister had not gone to Abovyan; what would have happened there? There are people who—it's obvious—voted under the inertia of this movement, knowing they have become prominent figures and played a significant role in the Velvet Revolution. Romanos was not actively involved during the revolution period. If we do not learn lessons, this Velvet Revolution will turn into a Velvet Dismissal on our part," Mikayelyan announced.
