Armenian Group Demines 34,693 Sq/M in Syria
The humanitarian demining and expert center team has cleared 5 designated dangerous areas in Syria, said the center's director Ruben Arakelyan at a press conference today.
"In total, the first group has cleared 34,693 square meters, and 29 landmines and unexploded ordnance have been discovered and destroyed by the Syrian authorities. We do not carry out blasting operations," he stated.
According to him, medical assistance has also been provided, with eight doctors on the Armenian team. "Approximately a thousand therapeutic interventions have been carried out, along with four hundred surgical procedures, and more than 1,300 laboratory medical assistance acts," he added.
The center's director assessed the work of the first group as satisfactory, noting that the progress was somewhat slower due to technical difficulties that have since been resolved. "The second group is in more favorable conditions," he noted.
Addressing the injured specialist, the director of the humanitarian demining and expert center mentioned that his health condition is satisfactory. "If we exclude the amputation, he has no other health issues. He is in Yerevan and will receive a special prosthesis in about one to two months," he said.
