Tehran-Van Train Resumed After 8-Year Hiatus
After the earthquake that struck Van in 2011, passenger services were halted for the Tehran-Van train, which is now back on the tracks. Following its resumption, the passenger train transported 79 travelers from Tehran to Van, as reported by Ermenihaber.
In 2015, passenger transportation on the Van-Tabriz route was also suspended due to Turkish-Kurdish clashes, leading to the cessation of railway communication between the two countries.
The Tehran-Van train will now operate passenger services twice a week. The aim of these services is to strengthen economic relations between Iran and Turkey. Ticket prices start at 165 Turkish lira (approximately 30 dollars).
