The Government Candidate for the Chairman of the Supreme Judicial Council is Ruben Vardazaryan

The newspaper "Hraparak" reports: "The Supreme Judicial Council, consisting of former Deputy Minister of Justice Vigen Kocharyan and lawyer Grigor Bekmezian, has a quorum and can hold meetings, but there are still 4 vacant seats, 3 of which, according to the law, must be judges, and they will be elected by the general assembly of judges, which is scheduled for July 11. Four names are being discussed: Yerevan judge David Balayan, son of Kim Balayan; Mesrop Makiyan from the same court; the chairman of the Yerevan court, Ruben Vardazaryan; and Suren Mnoyan from Aragatsotn region.
We tried to speak with them. David Balayan's assistant said, "We don’t know such things yet." And was an offer made? "It’s possible." Mesrop Makiyan responded to the question with another question, denying: "Who has been offered, that I should also be offered?"
Members of the Supreme Judicial Council can be judges who are over 40 years old, have worked for 10 years, and have not received any admonitions. All four candidates meet these requirements. By the way, the chairman of the Supreme Judicial Council must be appointed from among the judges, and according to our information, the government candidate is Ruben Vardazaryan."
Details are in today's issue of the newspaper.
