National Stadium Will Not Be Built in Yerevan, Vanetsyan

A regular meeting of the Football Federation of Armenia was held. During the break, the federation's president, Arthur Vanetsyan, answered reporters' questions. He noted that they were in the federation building and would not answer questions related to the federation's assembly and the National Security Service.

Vanetsyan stated that this year the federation plans to construct 76 small sports fields in the provinces. He also discussed the construction of a national stadium, emphasizing that the state cannot participate in this project. The stadium has to be built with investors' funds. Negotiations are ongoing, and according to Vanetsyan, there could be good news in the near future.

It is noteworthy that Vanetsyan has indicated that the national stadium will not be built in Yerevan, but rather in a province near the capital.

In response to a question from SHANTNEWS.am about what is expected for the “Hrazdan” stadium, which was considered a symbol of Armenian football's best years, the federation president stated: “I share your assessment that it is our stadium of victories and has a rich history. You know very well that it has an owner, and we have talked and negotiated with them two to three times. It involves large sums of money. The federation cannot invest such amounts because it does not have that kind of money. There needs to be a private investor. The owner is working on finding an investor. We have said that we will also support the search for an investor from our side. However, according to experts' evaluations, regardless of how much the ‘Hrazdan’ stadium is renovated and reconstructed, it will not meet international standards, meaning we will not be able to hold international matches there.”
