Gray Bear Transferred from Hrazdan to Yerevan Zoo

By the facilitation of the Inspection Body for Nature Protection and Mineral Resources, a male gray bear has been transferred from Hrazdan to the Yerevan Zoo.

This was announced on the Yerevan Zoo's Facebook page.

The post states: “On June 25 of this year, a gray bear was transferred to the Yerevan Zoo from Hrazdan, with the assistance of the Inspection Body for Nature Protection and Mineral Resources. The animal is 6 months old and weighs 8 kilograms. According to the specialist, this weight is quite low for a puppy of its height, indicating inadequate care for the animal. There are no specific details about the bear's origin. Judging by its behavior, the bear has been cared for by humans for a long time; it does not fear people and demands food.

The gray bear displays atypical behavior for its species, such as sucking its paw and exhibiting nervous movements. The reason for these behavioral deviations is the unskilled care and feeding by humans. Currently, the bear is in a quarantine section, and daily examinations are being conducted, along with planned laboratory tests. We will be able to provide complete information about the bear's health status in one month, after the quarantine period is over.”
