Young Constitutional Court Judge Makes Major Gaffe by Claiming to be Court President: Hrant Bagratyan

A young judge elected to the Constitutional Court made a significant gaffe by asserting that he is the President of the Court. Former Prime Minister and economist Hrant Bagratyan expressed this opinion during a broadcast on Livenews.am, commenting on the statement made by newly appointed judge Vahe Grigoryan.

It should be noted that during his swearing-in ceremony, Vahe Grigoryan announced that he was assuming the position of the President of the Constitutional Court.

“Perhaps he meant that he was previously a member of the Constitutional Court and a judge, and that he is currently the only judge,” Bagratyan said. According to him, the situation has created a legal casus.

“I have expressed my dissatisfaction regarding such statements or the closure of courts during my communications with the authorities. One day someone will claim to be the Prime Minister, another day the President; these statements must be halted. I urged the current authorities not to allow this, and I hope they will heed my call,” he added.
