LHK Opposes Tax Reform Package

LHK Opposes Tax Reform Package

The "Enlightened Armenia" party has presented more than a dozen proposals to the government regarding the formulation of tax policy in the country. This was announced by LHK member Arkadi Khachaturyan before the voting on the second reading of the package during the extraordinary session of the National Assembly on June 25.

According to him, raising taxes on all types of fuel is unacceptable. "As a result, gasoline, compressed natural gas, and diesel excise taxes will increase by 3 percent every year for the next few years. All of this will have social and economic implications," the MP noted, adding that the government has only partially approved three of their presented proposals.

Khachaturyan believes that the reform of the tax system will not allow the country to attract new investors, despite hopes for different developments within the government. The MP emphasized that the parliamentary faction of the "Enlightened Armenia" party will vote against the package proposed by the government.
