Armenia Partially Supports Resolution on Russia's Return to PACE
According to reports, the Russian Federation's delegation may fully resume its activities in the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) on June 25, thanks to a resolution passed overnight after a five-year hiatus. The resolution was approved with a vote of 118 in favor and 62 against.
As per Rbc.ua, Armenia has partially supported the return of the Russian delegation in its entirety. Azerbaijan and Turkey voted in favor of the entire resolution, while Georgia and Ukraine were among those who voted against it.
The Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs commented on the adoption of the resolution, stating that by restoring the rights of Russian MPs in PACE, the organization undermined its own credibility. The foreign ministry believes that the resolution was passed as a result of "unprecedented pressure and financial blackmail from Moscow."
It is worth noting that in April 2014, following events in Donbas and the annexation of Crimea, the Russian delegation was stripped of its voting rights, eligibility to participate in monitoring missions, and rights to be included in the leadership bodies of PACE. In response, the Russian delegation declared that it would refuse to work under such conditions.
