Tourists Love Georgia, They Should Have the Opportunity to Come, Says S. Zurabishvili
In an interview with Euronews, Georgian President Salome Zurabishvili commented on Russian President Vladimir Putin's decision to suspend flights to Georgia, stating that Russian tourists should have the opportunity to visit Georgia, and that the issues should be resolved with political leaders.
“My response is this: tourists should have the opportunity to come to us because they love Georgia. And political leaders must find solutions to the issues that have caused the situation. Solving that issue means reuniting Georgian territories, but it should in no way affect tourists and the population, nor should it impact the peaceful situation that has been established in Georgia,” stated Zurabishvili.
She noted that the tensions in relations with Moscow are not new; however, in the past, “this has not prevented one and a half million Russians from visiting Georgia.”
