I Experienced Utmost Grief: Anna Hakobyan on the Death of Poet Karine Ashugyan

The wife of the Prime Minister of Armenia, Anna Hakobyan, who is also the chair of the board of trustees of the "My Step" and "City of Smile" charitable foundations, has expressed her condolences on the passing of writer and journalist Karine Ashugyan.

“I experienced utmost grief upon learning about the untimely death of poet, translator, publicist, PhD in Philosophy, and dear friend Karine Ashugyan. Her contribution, especially in literature and translation, is significant. She translated the works of Marina Tsvetaeva, Anna Akhmatova, Natella Lalabekyan, and others with exceptional beauty and skill. Karine Ashugyan’s own works have been translated into numerous languages, introducing contemporary Armenian literary thought to the world. I extend my condolences to the family, relatives, and friends of Karine Ashugyan. The loss is irretrievable, as we have lost a wonderful poet, a talented person, and a good friend,” she noted.

Member of the National Assembly from the Prosperous Armenia Party, Naira Zohrabyan, informed on her Facebook page about the death of writer and journalist Karine Ashugyan. “Karine Ashugyan has passed away. The talented, kind, warm, and tender Karine. For the third time, I closed the eyes of my beloved ones. My father, Samvel, and now Karine. The pain is unbearable,” she wrote.
