Georgia's Ministry of Internal Affairs on the Current Situation in the Country

The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia has issued a statement regarding the current situation in the country. The MIA urged protesters, political parties, and their supporters to stay within the bounds of the law, maintain public order, and express their opinions peacefully.

The statement reads:

“We hereby inform you that of those arrested during the rally on June 20, 121 are under administrative detention, while the others have been released with administrative fines or have simply received verbal warnings. The investigation into certain offenders has been postponed.

We also want to inform the public that the Chief Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs has already begun examining possible legal violations by law enforcement personnel (including journalists) during the June 20 rally. Those law enforcement officers are no longer involved in enforcement and safety measures during rallies.”
