The co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group have issued a statement regarding the results of the meeting between Armenian Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan and Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov held in Washington on June 20.

The statement notes, in particular, that the participants of the meeting discussed the latest developments and key issues related to the resolution of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. The foreign ministers expressed their positions and expectations regarding the humanitarian and security measures proposed by the co-chairs during their recent visit to the region.

Expressing regret over the recent losses, the co-chairs urged both sides to take immediate measures towards restoring an atmosphere conducive to peace and substantive negotiations.

The mediators called on both parties to reaffirm their commitment to strictly maintain the ceasefire and refrain from any provocative actions, including the use of snipers and conducting engineering activities along the contact line and international borders.

In their discussions with the co-chairs, the foreign ministers emphasized the importance of utilizing existing direct communication to reduce the risk of escalation.

The foreign ministers agreed to meet again in the near future under the auspices of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs.
