Georgia's Public Defender Nino Lomjaria has commented on the situation, deeming the public protest justified while simultaneously condemning the violence. Georgian Prime Minister Mamuka Bakhtadze has also announced that those who organized the mass unrest will be held accountable for attempts to destabilize the situation in the country.
“Our task is to rectify the situation and ease the tension. The international community and the entire diplomatic corps are fully aware of how events have unfolded. We promise the public that these individuals will have to answer for the unrest and the attempts to destabilize the situation in the country. We want to once again call on our citizens for calm. The government will ensure the safety of every citizen and restore public order,” he said.
