Illegal Logging in Dilijan

On June 19 at 19:20, officers from the Dilijan police department, acting on operational information, discovered a "UAZ" vehicle loaded with approximately 1.5 cubic meters of timber near one of the houses on the first lane of Kalinini Street. An estimated 1 cubic meter of timber was also found lying on the ground behind the vehicle.

The 29-year-old driver stated that the timber belonged to him and that he had illegally harvested it from the forest adjacent to the area known as "Monument" in Dilijan earlier that morning.

The vehicle was taken to the specially protected area of the Dilijan police department. The timber that was on the ground has been handed over to the Dilijan National Park. A professional inspection has been initiated, and materials are being prepared.
