I Will Not Allow Any Influence to Diminish My Reputation: Candidate for Supreme Judicial Council
After more than an hour of discussions in the National Assembly, the candidate for the Supreme Judicial Council, Grigor Bekmezian, delivered his concluding speech. He attempted to clarify that he agreed to the nomination for the position of a Supreme Judicial Council member with the understanding that he would not be connected to any political party.
“People have learned about me, called me, made offers, and I am confident that they knew that after accepting the proposal, I would not be tied to that political force. My essence excludes any dependency. Mr. Vardanyan proudly or critically mentioned that I am not married. I don’t even have a mother-in-law to potentially be in a dependency situation. Do you understand? I am a free man. My freedom ensures my principled stance. The only thing I could have a dependency on is my love for this country, because wherever I went, whatever job offers I received, I came back because I love the cool shade of the evening trees. And I will continue to live in this country. I will not allow any influence to diminish my reputation,” Bekmezian declared in his concluding speech.
The selection of the candidate for the Supreme Judicial Council will continue in the parliament until 18:10.
