Statements on Mkhitaryan Indicate That One Should Not Believe Azerbaijani Rhetoric, Says FFA Spokesman

The spokesperson for the Armenian Football Federation, Zohrap Yeghanyan, made the following statement on his Facebook page: "The Azerbaijani Minister of Defense spoke about Henrikh Mkhitaryan, specifically stating that he has been informed that Mkhitaryan usually remains on the bench and is a poor player. The fact that Henrikh is a top footballer is known to everyone, including in Azerbaijan. It is also obvious that he is not among the reserves. It's clear that not only we but many representatives from the post-Soviet space take pride in him. It's evident that Azerbaijan would dream of having one 'Mkhitaryan' and would likely be willing to concede part of its oil shelf in exchange. Mkhitaryan’s jersey even caused quite a stir in Baku, but that's beside the point. It has become clear to me that even elementary and obvious facts are misinterpreted in Azerbaijan. If the minister is misrepresenting publicly available information about Mkhitaryan's playing time, they are definitely deceiving themselves about what is happening in the Azerbaijani army. They are also lying when they claim that their army is combat-ready and that they can win in a war whenever they choose. His remarks about Mkhitaryan are clear evidence that one should not believe the Azerbaijani side’s rhetoric; they are disconnected from reality and receiving false information. In short, football has clarified everything."
