Jrhavorut’. Information is being gathered about the criminal connections of judges

«Jrhavorut» newspaper writes that on May 20, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced the start of the vetting process. Following that announcement, the My Step faction in the National Assembly began working on a vetting draft, involving various experts.

According to information obtained by the newspaper, a month after the Prime Minister's announcement, the draft is nearly ready and will soon be sent to the State-legal Affairs Committee. Many members of the My Step faction were not aware as of yesterday whether the vetting draft was complete, however, our sources indicate that the government aims to present the draft by July, which is expected to be adopted in the first reading between July 10-15.

The information that «Jrhavorut» has received indicates that the body responsible for the vetting will be the Supreme Judicial Council, which is currently undergoing reorganization. Furthermore, according to reliable sources close to the Armenian government, prior to the official start of the vetting process for judges, the law enforcement system has already begun gathering information about judges’ criminal connections and their actions.

Essentially, this information is being collected to present it to the newly formed Supreme Judicial Council, so they can vet the judges and suspend the powers of certain judges through various penalties.
