I Will Reject the Term 'Super Ministry': Suren Papikyan

I will reject the term 'super ministry'; yes, our ministry is quite large and, of course, there are challenges. This was stated today by the Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure, Suren Papikyan, during a conversation with journalists in the National Assembly.

According to him, consolidating everyone under one department's roof will require some time. “We are currently focused on this important task. The optimization of duplicate divisions will take place in the upcoming month. Following that, actions will be taken as necessary,” he said.

Suren Papikyan noted that at this stage, no employees have been dismissed; everyone continues to work. He added that the best specialists from duplicate departments will be selected based on criteria. “Our goal is to attract and retain professionals,” he remarked.

In response to the suggestion that he has had limited connection with the energy sector, how he would be able to manage that block, Suren Papikyan replied, “Management and administration often do not have to correlate with specialization. I believe that both energy, transport, and other infrastructures that have been consolidated under one ministry provide opportunities for management. One of these is the institution of deputy ministers with specialized expertise. Our ministry has six deputy ministers, each responsible for one sector. We have maintained six deputies instead of twelve. This means it is already a more streamlined version.”
