Mr. Petrosyan has repeated so much that he is against my candidacy that it seems he is in favor of it: Vahe Grigoryan
In his concluding speech in the National Assembly, Vahe Grigoryan, who has been nominated as a member of the Constitutional Court, addressed the criticism directed at him by Gagik Petrosyan, a member of the Prosperous Armenia Party (BHK).
“Mr. Petrosyan has repeated so much that he is against my candidacy that I have the impression that in some way he is in favor, but is trying to convince himself that he should be against it... But I am confident that he will have to vote against me, because it is not just his right, it is already his duty. I simply cannot imagine how he could vote in my favor,” Grigoryan said with a smile.
Petrosyan's criticism was perhaps the most noteworthy, a point discussed by his party colleague Arman Abovyan and contrastingly by Alen Simonyan. The latter specifically expressed surprise regarding the thought that a candidate closely connected with members of the ruling faction would receive positive regard from them for the position of Constitutional Court member.
“Well, whose candidate should it be? We received a vote of confidence, which carries responsibility as well, meaning that we take this responsibility primarily upon ourselves,” Simonyan stated.
It is noteworthy that as a result of the voting in the National Assembly, Vahe Grigoryan was elected as a member of the Constitutional Court, presented by the President within the framework of his constitutional powers.
