«Jorhurt». The Intrigues and Surprises of the CP Conference
«Jorhurt» writes: "The composition of the board elected at the conference of the "Civil Contract" party on June 16 was truly a surprise for many. The voting results were astonishing even for the Speaker of the National Assembly, Ararat Mirzoyan, who did not expect to place fourth, falling behind Suren Papikyan and Arayik Harutyunyan. He expressed his frustration in a private setting, saying that he did not understand why it turned out that way.
"Jorhurt" has learned some details from the inaugural meeting of the newly elected CP board. Specifically, when the results were counted and the board's inaugural meeting was held to elect a chairman, some of those present, taken aback by the results, spontaneously suggested electing Nikol Pashinyan as the chairman of the CP board. However, the majority present proposed electing Suren Papikyan as the chairman.
"Jorhurt" learned that only one person suggested Ararat Mirzoyan's candidacy for the chair of the CP. Nikol Pashinyan immediately declined the nomination. Mirzoyan, seeing that he had no chance of being elected, also calculated that he had gathered considerably fewer votes than Suren Papikyan, and he too declined the nomination. Thus, Papikyan was unanimously elected as the chairman of the CP board.
