Fact: Will Ter-Petrosyan Return to the Presidency?
The newspaper "Fact" writes: "Months ago, rumors circulated that Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan sees the first president, Levon Ter-Petrosyan, in the position of President of Armenia. Many have even explained the strained relations between the Prime Minister and President Armen Sarkissian with this circumstance.
According to certain information, a number of principled members of the Civil Contract party strongly opposed Pashinyan's proposal, stating that the revolution was not intended to bring back Ter-Petrosyan and that the people would not understand them. Some even reminded the Prime Minister of his past articles published in his newspaper titled "Levon Ter-Petrosyan: A Great Mix-Up."
According to our sources, it has been decided to gradually clarify the attitude of both the ruling faction and the public. Specifically, as the first phase, the candidacy of Vahe Grigoryan for the position of Constitutional Court judge is being put forward. Since his name is directly associated with the first president, the voting picture in the parliament regarding him (if the Prime Minister does not intervene, and there is no order issued to vote unanimously in favor) could reflect the potential voting for Levon Ter-Petrosyan's candidacy for the presidency.
In the next phase, according to the same information, the options for Armen Sarkissian's resignation can be discussed. We tried to obtain a comment from Levon Ter-Petrosyan's spokesperson, Arman Musinyan, but he declined to comment on these discussions in an interview with "Fact."
