Armenian Police Detain Criminal Figures

According to the directive of the Chief of Police Valery Osipyan, law enforcement officers from regional divisions of the police carried out intensified services on June 15 and 16, aimed at maintaining public order, enhancing traffic safety, as well as preventing and revealing criminal offenses and violations.

During the intensified service, officers of the Ararat regional police department and the traffic police serving the Ararat region conducted inspections based on operational data at the residences of several dozen criminal authorities. As a result, 33 individuals were detained on suspicion of various crimes by the police departments of Artashat, Masis, and Ararat. One of the detainees was found in possession of narcotics.

Four drivers, who grossly violated traffic rules, operated vehicles without registration plates, and lacked driver's licenses were also detained, and their vehicles were transferred to secured areas. Additionally, around 139 reports on various traffic violations were compiled.

The Aragatsotn regional police and the traffic police serving the region discovered 114 violations of traffic rules during intensified services in Ashtarak, Aparan, Talin, and elsewhere, leading to the compilation of reports. To carry out preventive measures, criminal figures residing in the region, including so-called “thieves in law,” were brought into custody.

During a two-day intensified operation in the Kotayk region, regional police and subordinate units, as well as traffic police officers identified 66 drivers who grossly violated traffic rules, generating reports regarding administrative offenses against them. Sixteen vehicles were transferred to secured areas, with six drivers found to be under the influence of alcohol, two lacking driving licenses, and others cited for various violations.

Police officers detained five criminal authorities and 13 previously convicted individuals for various suspicions. Additionally, individuals who willfully did not comply with the legal demands of police officers were also taken into custody.

In the Armavir region, police identified 14 drivers under the influence of alcohol as part of their intensified efforts, and their vehicles were taken to secured areas. In total, 63 vehicles were transferred during two days of intensified service. 147 individuals were detained across territorial police departments for various suspicions and for failing to comply with legal demands from the police. Several cases have led to official administrative proceedings.

Intensified services were also carried out by the Lori regional police and subordinate divisions, as well as traffic police serving Lori, resulting in the identification of 54 traffic rule violations. One truck loaded with illegal timber was discovered and transferred to a secured area.

The Shirak regional police and subordinate units, along with traffic police, conducted intensified service in 84 groups, covering the entire region and uncovering numerous violations. Reports were compiled for 155 drivers who violated administrative offenses. Multiple individuals, including criminal authorities, were detained for various suspicions during inspections of residences known to host so-called “thieves in law.”

The Vayots Dzor police also conducted intensified service, uncovering 17 traffic rule violations, resulting in four vehicles being transferred to secured areas. A report was filed regarding one violation of noise regulations. Previously convicted individuals were invited to the territorial department, and preventive work was conducted with them.

In Gegharkunik, police officers from various divisions identified 155 traffic rule violations, resulting in corresponding reports. Sixty-seven transport vehicles were transferred to secured areas, as their drivers posed a threat to traffic safety. Over 80 individuals were detained on various suspicions, searches were conducted, and narcotics were discovered. During the intensified operation, the Vardenis division of police recorded a case of voluntarily surrendering illegally held weapons or munitions.

In Tavush, 39 vehicles were transferred to secured areas by traffic police and department officers, of which only 16 drivers did not possess the necessary documentation. Criminal authorities and previously convicted individuals residing in Ijevan, Dilijan, Tavush, and Noyemberyan were brought into custody for preventive work.
