Ijivan Mayor Invited to Police
Ijivan Mayor Vardan Ghalumyan has been invited to the police to provide explanations regarding an incident that occurred in Ijivan on June 15. This is reported by News.am.
The police informed the media that materials are being prepared in connection with the incident that took place in the Tavush region on June 15, and an investigation is underway.
Earlier, Shamshyan.com reported that around 09:15, an alarm was received at the operational management center of the Yerevan police from a citizen named Valeri Melikbekyan. He stated that Mayor Vardan Ghalumyan, along with city hall employees, was carrying out illegal actions in the area belonging to him at 13/41 Independence Street in Ijivan and had attacked family members.
At the police station, Valeri Melikbekyan's wife, 51-year-old Narine Melikbekyan, a resident of Ijivan, reported that during a protest against builders on a land plot owned by their family the same day, Mayor Vardan Ghalumyan had hit her several times on her back.
