Armenia's Foreign Ministry Has No Complaints Regarding Ambassador Kopirkin's Meeting with Robert Kocharyan

The Armenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has no complaints regarding Russian Ambassador Sergey Kopirkin's recent meeting with former President Robert Kocharyan.

During a meeting of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Foreign Relations, Deputy Foreign Minister Grigor Hovhannisyan clarified that there was no procedural or diplomatic norm error regarding the two-hour meeting. He stated that the actions of the ambassador cannot be subject to condemnation or special investigation by the ministry.

Hovhannisyan referred to public opinions and reactions from state figures but emphasized that there can be no restrictions in terms of diplomatic protocol, even towards individuals under investigation. Overall, the Deputy Minister explained that the Foreign Ministry does not intend to make any statements, and currently, there are none.

In response, the committee chairman and former Deputy Foreign Minister Ruben Rubinyan expressed his perspective, stating that “the meeting is strange and does not deserve to be welcomed.”
