VIDEO: 'Ticking Time Bomb'. 'Sanitek' Offices Located on Property Owned by Former Deputy Mayor's Father
The waste management issue in Yerevan is referred to as a 'ticking time bomb' by Mayor Hayk Marutyan. He discussed the operational methods of the waste management company 'Sanitek' and the associated problems during a break at a conference of the 'Civil Contract' party.
"Waste management is a problem that has persisted for 4 years, which I refer to as a 'ticking time bomb.' The city is divided into 2 lots, or sections. It is unclear under what conditions and for what reasons it has been taken over by one company, which now holds a monopoly," stated Marutyan.
The mayor of Yerevan also revealed some new information: "You wouldn't believe it, the fleet and offices of 'Sanitek' are rented from the property owned by the father of the previous deputy mayor, Vahe Nikoyan. There are many interesting facts that, once revealed, help us understand why exactly one company has won the contract," he added.
