Tavush Governor Proposes Noteworthy Initiative
According to the "Zhoghovurd" newspaper, Tavush Governor Hayk Chobanyan has introduced an interesting initiative. He has suggested to the head of the Department of Territorial Administration and Local Self-Government of the regional administration to inform the media in advance during meetings held on their own initiative.
It appears that elected community leaders must notify the Tavush Governor whenever they share any topic or issue with a media outlet or journalist. This raises questions about its compliance with the laws of the Republic of Armenia, particularly regarding local self-government legislation.
We reached out to Tavush Governor Hayk Chobanyan for comments, and he responded: "I have not given such an instruction. This relates to internal information circulation, and there is no directive. The aim is for our information department to be able to process that information. It is a process for internal use."
