Armenia and Azerbaijan Foreign Ministers to Meet in Washington

It has been announced that on June 20, a meeting will be held in Washington under the auspices of the Minsk Group co-chairmanship between the foreign ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan. This information was provided by the Armenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

“After the meetings held in Paris in January and in Moscow in April, discussions were underway among the foreign ministers about holding the next meeting in a third co-chairing country, the USA. As before, this time, an agreement was reached among the participants on the simultaneous dissemination of a statement regarding the meeting. Armenia remains committed to this agreement.

At the same time, Azerbaijan's continuous reprehensible violations of the ceasefire and provocative actions, which have recently caused irreparable human losses and led to serious aggravation of the situation along the contact line, have created a hostile environment before the meeting. Azerbaijan's actions, characterized by the use of force and the threat of force, hinder the establishment of a favorable environment for peace and thus disrupt the progress of the peaceful resolution process.

The current situation conditions the clear priorities of the agenda for the Washington meeting,” the statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reads.
